The list of cities in Finland provides an overview of the development of the population of the larger cities and towns of the State of Finland. Listed is also a table of the largest floor area communities and an alphabetic overview of the cities. An alphabetical list of all communities can be found at List of cities and towns in Finland.

Municipalities by population

The table includes the municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, whose name in Finnish and in Swedish, the number of inhabitants, according to results of the censuses of 1990 and 2000 ( respectively 31 December), and according to an estimate of the Central Statistical Office in Finland for 1980 and 2006 ( December 31 respectively ). Listed is also the province ( Lääni ) to which the community belongs. The inhabitants numbers refer to the respective community in its political boundaries, without politically independent suburbs.
