Castle Münchenbuchsee

Münchenbuchsee ( bern German Münchebuchsi, called by the natives Buchsi ) is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Münchenbuchsee is around 10 km north-west of Bern.

Neighboring municipalities are, from north starting: Deisswil in Münchenbuchsee, Wiggiswil, Moosseedorf, Zollikofen, Kirchlindachstrasse, Diemerswil, Schüpfen and Rapperswil.

History

Is first mentioned the name Münchenbuchsee in 1180, in a donation of Kuno von Buchsee to the Order of St. John. This is grounded in the gift of St. John the Coming Münchenbuchsee, often inaccurately referred to in the literature as a monastery. The Coming buys many goods in the area and expanded its rule. After the Reformation, in 1528 the state Bern dissolves the Coming and oriented in the buildings of a bailiwick one. One of the conditions which the Kuno von Buchsee was that no office or fees be erected for the crossing of the community. Even the postal service should not cost anything.

In Münchenbuchsee is one of the five schools for the deaf Switzerland, the Education Centre for Hearing and Language Münchenbuchsee (formerly Cantonal Sprachheilschule ).

Special Residential School

The special education home Mätteli Foundation operates a special boarding school with classes for all levels from kindergarten, a business school and residential groups.
