Geography

Geographical Location

History

Around 1000 was built on the present territory of Neustadt an der Orla Arnshaugk the castle on the site of an earlier prehistoric plant. In 1120 Nova villa was a place German establishment, mentioned in a deed of the Thuringian Count Wichmann at the monastery Kaltenborn. In the period 1150-1250 the town of Neustadt was founded by the Lords of Lobdeburg. The city was first mentioned in records in 1287.

  • Carnival in Neustadt an der Orla. The New Town look forward every year to the "four great days " of the carnival. Traffic

In the East, eight kilometers away Triptis is the nearest large city with its own motorway exit (A 9).
