Ömer Kaner

Ömer Kaner ( born May 21, 1951 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach.

Playing career

Club career

Kaner began his career in the 1973/74 season at Eskişehirspor. In his first season, in the first league, he scored ten goals in 27 games the following season and 14 goals, making him the top scorer of the season 194/75. For the 1975/76 season he moved to the reigning champions Fenerbahce. In the two years Kaner could not confirm its performance in 33 Premier League matches, he scored seven goal. He went to Zonguldakspor, returned to Eskişehirspor and still played for Bakirköyspor and Fatih Karagümrük SK.

National

Kaner played for Turkey its only international against Pakistan on 18 January 1974.

Coaching career

His first as a coach was Zeytinburnuspor. In 1991 he was at Fenerbahce, on the side of Guus Hiddink, assistant coach. Later he was also assistant coach of Todor Veselinovic. In 1993 he led his coaching career again continued as head coach. At the end of the 1993/94 season he helped Denizlispor for promotion to the Süper Lig His later engagements were not successful.

Since 2006, Kaner trained Turkish Futsal National Team.
