Pavel Kolchin

Pavel Konstantinovich Koltschin (Russian: Павел Константинович Колчин; born January 9, 1930 in Yaroslavl, † 29 December, 2010 Otepaeae ) was Estonian citizen and a Soviet cross-country skier and coach.

At Olympic Games Koltschin won four medals; next three golden bronze with the Soviet 4x10 km relay in 1956. At the World Championships he also stood on the podium four times and won three silver and one bronze.

Koltschin received three medals for his achievements: Two Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1957 and 1973) and a badge of honor (1970). In addition, he was honored in 1963 as the first Russian with the Holmenkollen medal with his wife and former cross-country skier Alevtina Koltschina.

After his playing career, he worked as a coach, including eight years for the Soviet cross-country skiing team. After he had lived for many years in Estonia, he took in 1996 at the Estonian citizenship.
