Roman Catholic Diocese of Nîmes

The diocese of Nîmes (Latin: Dioecesis Nemausensis ) is a located in France Roman Catholic diocese based in Nîmes.

History

The diocese of Nîmes was built in the 5th century and the Archdiocese of Narbonne is a suffragan. 1694 gave the bishopric of Nîmes parts of its territory from the foundation of the diocese Alès. On 29 November 1801, the diocese of Nîmes was dissolved and the area was incorporated into the diocese of Avignon. The diocese of Nîmes was established on October 6, 1822 by Pope Pius VII, with the Apostolic Constitution Paternae charitatis again. On April 27, 1877, the diocese of Nîmes was the archbishopric of Avignon is a suffragan. The diocese of Nîmes was placed under the Archdiocese of Montpellier suffragan on 16 December 2002.
