Under rainy conditions, he improved in the first round from twelfth to fourth place. Before it turned out with technical problems, he finished in third place, ahead of opponents in significantly more competitive vehicles. At the Grand Prix of France, he nearly put his first point, but the McLaren driver Michael Andretti had to admit defeat in the last round and dropped back to seventh place. Output of the variant Bassa took off his car and crashed into the barriers. His race car overturned and lay upside down, Barrichello suffered a broken nose. In Saturday's qualifying Roland Ratzenberger died after an accident in the Villeneuve curve. In the race, then his compatriot and idol Ayrton Senna was killed and Barrichello had the loss of his mentor and friend, and the associated, then directed to him hopes of the Brazilian fans in the sequence handle. Nevertheless, he was the hitherto most recent drivers of Formula 1 history at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa- Francorchamps, retract his first pole position. At the end of the season, he finished after four fourth places is far ahead of his team-mate Eddie Irvine sixth in the drivers' standings.

1995 had Barrichello again the lack of reliability of its Jordan - cars suffered, which were equipped in that season with factory engines from Peugeot. His season highlight was the Grand Prix of Canada, in which he scored his best finish so far in Formula 1 with a second place. At the end of the season he finished in eleventh place in the overall standings - one place ahead of his teammate Irvine. In 1996 Barrichello after Irvine had left the team in the direction of Ferrari, with the experienced Martin Brundle Brits a new teammates. Barrichello finished some races in the points, a podium placing him did not succeed. In the drivers' world championship, he finished at the end of the season in eighth place overall. Thus he not only its current, but also his former teammate Irvine, who possessed a Ferrari from a faster car behind.

Stewart (1997-1999)

For the 1997 season the 24 -year-old Barrichello moved after four years at Jordan Stewart Grand Prix, the newly formed team of former Formula 1 World Champion Jackie Stewart. There he and his new team colleague Jan Magnussen had to contend with the lack of stability and competitiveness of the Stewart SF01. Barrichello finished only three races of the season. His best result here was the second place in the Monaco Grand Prix, in which he excelled on wet roads and left many opponents in faster cars behind him. His first season for Stewart, he eventually finished in 13th place overall.

In the second season, Stewart continued to struggle with reliability problems. In addition, the new Stewart SF02 still did not stop with the vehicles of the competition. Barrichello still convincing performance but led to the separation of Magnussen. In its place, Jos Verstappen has been committed, but like its predecessor was unable to find the services of Barrichello and finally had to leave the team at the end of the season also. At the end of the season, he finished with two fifth places as the best results twelfth place in the Drivers' World Championship.

Provided in 1999 Barrichello with the Stewart SF3 about a more competitive compared to the two previous car. Already at the second Grand Prix, his home race in Brazil, he took over third place starting for a few laps the lead, before it failed with an engine failure. Later in the season, Barrichello started again from pole position and was three times as third on the podium. The first victory of the team nonetheless celebrated his team-mate Johnny Herbert, the best mastered the chaotic weather conditions during the European Grand Prix on the Nürburgring. Barrichello succeeded no victory, yet he took a position in front of Herbert seventh place in the drivers' standings. His team secured the two pilots to fourth place in the Constructors' World Championship.

Ferrari (2000-2005)

For the 2000 season Barrichello was hired as a replacement for Eddie Irvine Ferrari and team-mate Michael Schumacher. He managed to finish all the races where he finished among the top four drivers. At the Grand Prix of Germany at the Hockenheimring Barrichello made the first Grand Prix win of his career on the 124th race. In the chaotic race, he first went into the race in 18th place and worked continuously forward. Finally, he came first approach thanks to a safety car phase to the leaders and took over the lead as he, after it started to rain lightly, decided against a change to wet tires. While Schumacher import the first Ferrari's world championship title since 1979, Barrichello finished his hitherto successful Formula 1 season with fourth place in the drivers ' world championship and the constructors' title for his team. 2001 was Barrichello in a total of ten races on the podium, but this he succeeded no victory. At the Grand Prix of Austria, he left Schumacher in second place, after he had been asked by his team boss Jean Todt with the now-famous radio saying " Let Michael pass for the championship " to do so. Nevertheless, he helped his team to another constructors' title and improved in the standings to third place, while Schumacher again became World Champion.

2002 Ferrari possessed more about the best car in the field. While Schumacher had to show four victories after the first five races, seemed Barrichello, who finished in second place in a race only to be dogged by bad luck. At the season opener, the Australian Grand Prix, he collided at the start from the front row with Ralf Schumacher, the brother of his teammates. In Spain, he joined with a gearbox failure at not even the start. At the Grand Prix of Austria at the A1- Ring, the tide seemed to turn. Barrichello scored the pole position and led the race significantly ahead of Schumacher. His first win of the season he left just before the finish line and overt protest his teammates, as his team him - as in a race last year - asked just before the end, let Schumacher past. The audience expressed their displeasure with the "wrong" winner and a bad play at the awards ceremony. A shamed Schumacher gave Barrichello the top spot on the podium, which caused only for even more displeasure with the visitors. The FIA punished Ferrari after the race with a payment of one million dollars and took the affair as an opportunity to team orders in Formula 1 to ban the future. Later in the season, Barrichello decided the race in Europe, Hungary, Italy and the United States itself. For all his victories Schumacher took second place. In the U.S., the finish was similar to scenes from Austria, but this time it was not Barrichello, who had slowed, but Schumacher - and not at the direction of the team. Schumacher, who had led the race until then superior, Barrichello was approaching for a perfect photo finish and slowed down so much that Barrichello won with 11- thousandths of a second. At the end of the season Barrichello was behind Schumacher Vice World Champion and Ferrari won the Constructors title again.

2003 decreed Ferrari no longer such a dominant car as last season and the team was down to the last race weekend involved in the fight for the world title. Barrichello, who stood on the podium eight times, scored at the Grand Prix of Great Britain its first win of the season, which he described years later as his " greatest victory ", since he was thrown back by a number of safety car phases again and again and yet at the end first came to the finish. At the last race of the season, the Japanese Grand Prix, Barrichello was given a special task. Although he himself had no chance of winning the drivers' title, but was able, his team-mate Schumacher, who had to start from far behind after problems in training, to help with a win for the fourth world title in a row. Barrichello won the race ahead of Schumacher's title rival Kimi Raikkonen and so did his share to win the title of Schumacher. Since Schumacher at the end of the race but still improved to eighth place, he would have been no longer dependent on the help of his team Kollegens. Barrichello finished the season in fourth place in the overall standings, Ferrari celebrated another constructors' title.

2004 Ferrari was again similar superior as in the season of 2002. During Schumacher decided from the first 13 races 12 for himself, Barrichello had to settle behind his teammate in the same period with seven second places. An obvious team orders did not exist at this time. In the second half of the season Barrichello wins won the Grand Prix of Italy at Monza and at the premiere of the Grand Prix of China, which was to be his last victory for Ferrari at the same time. At his home race in Brazil, although it succeeded in pole position, but in the race he fell back to third place, which he still scored his best finish in this Grand Prix. Barrichello was the second time World Cup champions and again contributed to winning the constructors' title for Ferrari.

The 2005 season appeared with a second place at the season opener in Australia no worse than to start in previous years, but showed up later in the season that Ferrari was no longer in a position to challenge for the title. After changing the tire regulations that changing the tires banned during the race, were the Bridgestone tires, used Ferrari, mostly inferior to the Michelin tires significantly. The only advantage that resulted from this situation was that you started with almost no competition at the Grand Prix of the United States. Since the Michelin tires teams had problems with the reliability of the tires, they renounced the start and next to the two Ferraris were only the Jordan and Minardi, who were commonly found at the end of the field to. The victory made the two Ferrari drivers therefore among themselves and Barrichello finished behind Schumacher again in second place. At the end of the season Barrichello finished eighth in the drivers' world championship, which is his worst overall placement for Ferrari. Barrichello announced before the end of the season that he will leave the team at the end of the season. His successor was his compatriot Felipe Massa.

During his time at Ferrari Barrichello was consistently overshadowed by his teammate Schumacher, five times world champion in a row. However, Barrichello insisted that he was not the " number two " of the Italian racing team and described himself as a " point 1b ". However, Barrichello did his part to ensure that Ferrari driver duo with the Schumacher / Barrichello won five constructors' world championship titles. The profit of the World Championship in 2002 and 2004 was his best overall placement in Formula 1 dar.

Honda (2006-2008)

At the Monaco Grand Prix he missed after a drive-through penalty with a fourth place just under the podium. Although he made no podium and fourth places were his best results, he managed to complete with regular points finishes in the standings in seventh place. However, he failed to keep up with the performance of his teammates, who won a pole position among others, and won a race.

2007, fulfilled the hopes Hondas to be able to catch up with the top teams, not. At the beginning of the season, the pilots were duped even the Honda customer team Super Aguri. While Barrichello came in only two races not finishing, a ninth place remained his best finish that season, so he stayed for the first time in his Formula 1 career in a season without points he the on the 20th Place Appreciation ended.

Despite its moderate cutting Barrichello was also taken in 2008 under contract. Again, however, the Honda cars were not competitive enough to run regularly in the points can. Unlike last year, this time it was not Barrichello and Button, who made the most of the situation and drove in three partially chaotic race in the points. The season was characterized by two peaks. On the one presented Barrichello a record at Grand Prix starts, triggering the Grand Prix of Canada Riccardo Patrese as a pilot with the most Grand Prix starts from. On the other hand, he celebrated the chaotic rain events in the UK as a third party his first podium placement for Honda. More points standings did not follow, as early Honda stopped the development in order to focus on the race car for next season. In the overall standings Barrichello ultimately finished ahead of Button on the 14th place overall. For the season, Barrichello initially resembled his Ferrari 2004 season. During Button won six of the first seven races, Barrichello managed in the same period only three second places behind Button. Subsequently, however, the tide turned and Barrichello was able to go along the pace of Button, or was faster than his teammate. However, the Brawn -powered car had lost its initial dominance in the meantime and had to specifically fight with Red Bull for the places. At the Grand Prix of Europe, on the harbor route from Valencia, Barrichello finally achieved his first victory in nearly five years. Two races later, at the Italian Grand Prix, he chose another race for himself and made his eleventh overall Grand Prix success and his third victory in Italy. At his home race, the Brazilian Grand Prix, Barrichello drove while again (after 2004) to the pole position in the race but this could not be implemented in a win and came in eighth place. His best finish he scored in the ninth race, the Grand Prix of Europe, with a fourth place. At his home race, which he has never won in his entire career, Barrichello again had bad luck. While his teammate drew attention to himself with a pole position in the race Barrichello was initially a puncture and then a problem with a wheel nut. He finally came in at number 14 to the finish. In the Drivers' Championship, he finished at the end of the tenth. When the Singapore Grand Prix 2010, he started for the 300th time in Formula 1 since 2002 he mitzählte the two failed start attempts by Spain and France in his personal statistics, however, he celebrated his 300th race already at the Grand Prix of Belgium 2010.
