Soultzbach-les-Bains

Soultzbach- les- Bains (German Sulzbach, alsatian Sozbe ) is a municipality with 694 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the canton of Munster, in the region of Upper Alsace ( Haut -Rhin) in France. She is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de communes de la Vallée de Munster. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges.

Geography

The small spa town located west-southwest of Colmar in the Alsace Wine Route, although at the Department of Road 417 N 5 km west of Munster and 15 km. It is traversed by the two streams Krebsbach and Runsbach.

History

Soultzbach was first mentioned in 1211 under the name " Soulcebach ". The name derives from the local salt production.

  • Church of St. John the Baptist, built in the 15th century.
  • Chapel of St. Catherine, built in the 15th century and restored in the 18th century.
  • A fountain built in 1601.
  • The castle Hattstatt - Schauenbourg from the 13th century. 1603, the castle was passed by the House instead of a hat to the noble family looking castle. They rebuilt the property into a hotel for the patients around: the healing powers of local sources had now spread.

Regular events

  • On the last Saturday of June, the Midsummer Eve is celebrated with an impressive fire in place.
