Thomas Wilson (Virginia politician)

Thomas Wilson ( born September 11, 1765 in Staunton, Virginia; † January 24, 1826 in Morgantown, Virginia ) was an American politician.

Wilson studied law in Staunton and was admitted to the legal profession on 21 September 1789. He practiced law in Morgantown in present-day West Virginia. From 1792 to 1795 he was a senator in the Senate of Virginia. The House of Representatives from Virginia he was a member from 1799 to 1800. Then he sat again from 1800 to 1804 in the Senate of Virginia.

Wilson was elected as a Federalist to the 12th Congress and represented there on 4 March 1811 to 3 March 1813 the state of Virginia in the House of Representatives of the United States. In the years 1816 and 1817 he was again in the House of Representatives from Virginia as a member. Wilson then started again practice as a lawyer. He died in 1826 in Morgantown and was buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

His son Edgar Campbell Wilson and his grandson Eugene McLanahan Wilson were also parliamentarians in the House of Representatives of the United States.
