UÅŸak Province

Usak is a province of Turkey with capital of the same Usak.

Demographics

In 1924 the city had 15,000 inhabitants Usak yet. In the districts Ulubey, Karahalli and Banaz there were 70,000. 1926, the population grew from 85,000 to 91,298. From 1950 to 1955, the population increased by 68.1 %, as the district Eşme Manisa Province Usak was slammed.

Geography

The province has an area of ​​5341 km ² with a population of approximately 340,000 people, of which about 180,000 live in the provincial capital of Usak.

Usak is located on the border between the Aegean and Central Anatolia. The province is bounded on the north of Kütahya, east of Afyonkarahisar, in the south of Denizli and Manisa in the west.

Economy

In the region 45.34 % of people in the agricultural activities. However, the production is not enough for their own consumption. 147 150 tonnes of wheat, 231 990 tonnes of barley, oats and 2 478 tons 2105 tons of corn are produced annually in the province. In the district Banaz 49 567 tonnes of peas are harvested. In addition, 6931 tons of tobacco are processed. Fruits and vegetables are grown exclusively in the district Sivasli where an annual Strawberry Festival is held. Usak has the oldest sugar factory in Turkey, moreover, are leather and ceramic industries of significance.

Kitchen

In the region of the Tarhana soup is very popular. Ingredients are wheat flour, yoghurt, onions, tomatoes, peppers. In general, they are prepared for lunch.
