Algeria at the 1996 Summer Olympics

Algeria participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta for the eleventh time in the Olympic Summer Games in part. The team was able to win two gold and a bronze medal. It consisted of 45 athletes, of which 39 men and six were women. These occurred in 29 competitions in nine sports. The youngest participant was the boxer Mehdi Assous at 18 years and 299 days, the oldest was Hocine Soltani, who also took up boxing at 33 years and 206 days. The Algerian flag was worn during the opening ceremony on 19 July 1996 by Karim El- Mahouab in the stadium.
