Guinea-Bissau at the 1996 Summer Olympics

Guinea- Bissau participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta in part for the first time in the Olympic Games. The team consisted of three athletes who started in three competitions in two sports. The youngest participant was the Athlete Amarildo Almeida with 20 years and 134 days, the oldest was the wrestler Talata Embalo with 32 years and 245 days. During the opening ceremony on 19 July 1996 Embalo was also the flag of Guinea -Bissau in the Olympic Stadium. Four years later, at the Summer Olympic Games 2000 in Sydney, him this honor was again part.
