Zaire at the 1996 Summer Olympics

The present Democratic Republic of the Congo took shape under the name of the country Zaire at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta for the fifth time in the Olympic Summer Games in part. The team consisted of 14 participants Zaire, of which two men and twelve women. They entered in two competitions in two sports. The youngest participant was the basketball player Mabika Mwadi with 20 years and 26 days, the oldest Mukendi Mbuyi was aged 36 years and 87 days, which was also a member of the basketball team. Mbuyi is still the oldest participant for the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Olympics. At the opening ceremony on 19 July 1996 Lukengu Ngalula carried the flag of Zaire in the Olympic Stadium.
