Georgia at the 1996 Summer Olympics

Georgia took at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta for the first time in the Olympic Summer Games in part after it in Lillehammer had its Olympic debut at the Olympic Winter Games 1994. The team consisted of 34 athletes, of which 27 men and seven were women. They started in 39 competitions in 13 sports. They won a total of two bronze medals, bringing Georgia finished 68th in the medal of the 1996 Summer Olympics. The youngest participant was the diver Nino Kazarashvili 16 years and 240 days, the oldest was the sailors Guram Biganishvili with 46 years and 65 days. During the opening ceremony on 19 July 1996, the Boxer Giorgi Kandelaki carried the flag of Georgia in the Olympic Stadium.
