Costa Rica at the 1996 Summer Olympics

Costa Rica took in the Olympic Summer Games in 1996 for the tenth time in the Olympic Summer Games in part. The team consisted of eleven athletes, of which six men and five were women. They started in 13 competitions in six sports. They won a total of one gold medal, making Costa Rica reached number 49 in the medal table. The youngest participant was a swimmer Melissa Mata with 16 years and 124 days, the oldest was the cyclist José Andrés Brenes with 31 years and 225 days. The flag of Costa Rica was worn during the opening ceremony on 19 July 1996 by judoka Henry Nuñez in the Olympic Stadium.
