Burundi at the 1996 Summer Olympics

Burundi adopted at the 1996 Summer Olympics for the first time participate in the Olympics. The team consisted of seven athletes, six men and one woman. They started in six competitions in a sport. They won a total of one gold medal, making Burundi reached number 49 in the medal table. The youngest participant was Justine Nahimana 16 years and 357 days, was the eldest Tharcisse Gashaka with 33 years and 230 days. The flag of Burundi was worn during the opening ceremony on 19 July 1996 by Dieudonné Kwizera in the Olympic Stadium.
