Asswiller

Asswiller ( German Aßweiler ) is a commune of 289 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It is located in Crooked Alsace on the edge of the Natural Park of the Northern Vosges.

Geography

Asswiller is bordered on the southwest by the cantonal capital Drulingen. Other neighboring municipalities are Durstel the northwest, Tieffenbach in the north, Struth in the Northeast, Peter Brook in the east and in the south Ottwiller.

History

A found here bas-relief points to a settlement in Gallo- Roman times. During the Palatinate War of the place of King Louis XIV was annexed and returned after the peace of Ryswick.
