Sparsbach

Sparbach is a commune with 263 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Saverne, in the canton of La Petite- Pierre and community association Pays de La Petite- Pierre.

Geography

The community Sparbach lies in the Vosges and is part of the biosphere reserve Palatinate Forest -Vosges du Nord.

Through the village flows the Meis creek that empties into the mod in the near Ingwiller.

Neighboring communities of Sparbach are Wimmenau in the north, Weinbourg and Ingwiller in the east, Weiterswiller in the south, La Petite- Pierre in the southwest and Erckartswiller in the West.

History

In the 14th and 15th centuries Sparbach was initially under the seigniory of Oberbronn. After that it was a fief of Lichtenberg.
