Baerendorf

Baerendorf ( German Bärendorf ) is a commune of 315 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the canton of the arrondissement of Saverne Drulingen.

Geography

Baerendorf is located in the Crooked Alsace on the border with Lorraine and adjacent to the north with the municipality of Lorraine Postroff. The other neighboring communities clockwise are Eschwiller in the Northeast, deer in the east, in the southeast Rauwiller, Gœrlingen in the south and Kirrberg in the West.

The village lies between Sarrebourg and Sarre- Union and is accessible from both around 10 km away. It is first, then south-north, bordered in the east-west direction from the Isch, a right tributary of the Saar. Downward, to the west of the village opens from the left of the Brueschbach in the Isch.

History

Baerendorf was mentioned in a document of the monastery White Castle 712 for the first time. It belonged to the county Saarwerden, then to rule Finstingen, the Duchy of Lorraine, and finally to the County of Nassau -Saarbrücken and came to France in 1793.

The village was heavily damaged during the Second World War in the fall of 1944, the parish church from 1774 almost completely destroyed. It was rebuilt in 1955.
