Rimsdorf

Rimsdorf is a commune with 303 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Saverne, in the canton of Sarre- Union and is a member of the Communauté de communes du Pays de Sarre- Union.

Geography

The community Rimsdorf in Crooked Alsace is located on a ridge that separates the Saar Valley to the west of the catchment area of the glans to the east. On the territory of the municipality of Metz Lach ditch arises as a direct Saar tributary, east of the village center of Höllgraben, a tributary of the glans. One-third of the 6.07 km ² of the municipality is part of the forest area Forêt de Sarre- Union domaniale (formerly Bannholz ), the largest part of the area consists of gently rolling pastures and fields.

Neighboring communities of Rimsdorf are Domfessel in the northeast, Mackwiller in the east, Thal - Drulingen and Burbach in the south, the west and Sarrewerden Sarre- Union in the northwest.

History

Rimsdorf belonged to the Counts of Sarrewerden, from 1745 until the French Reviolution 1789 House of Nassau -Weilburg.

The destroyed in the Second World War the church was replaced by a 1960 finished modern church.
