Domfessel

Domfessel is a commune with 312 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region.

Geography

The river acorn leaves the Northern Vosges Natural Park in Domfessel.

History

By 1300 it was known as Dunnvaszel. Other names were Donnebassel, Dunesasseln and Donnevasle in the 15th century. Domfessel included in the County Saarwerden. In the late 18th century excavations took place under the leadership of Pastor Ringel. Ruins of a Roman villa were discovered and dated to the 1st century. The diameter was estimated to be 300 m.
