Rexingen (Bas-Rhin)

Rexingen is a commune of 203 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the community association Alsace Bossue.

Geography

Rexingen lies between mountain in the west and Adam Willer in the east, 21 kilometers northeast of Sarrebourg and 55 kilometers north-west of Strasbourg in Alsace Krumme.

History

In 1674 the village was during the Dutch War ( 1672-1679 ) partly by the troops of Henri de La Tour d' Auvergne, vicomte de Turenne ( 1611-1675 ), destroyed.

Until the French Revolution (1789-1799) Rexingen included in the County Saarwerden.

The mayor's school was built in 1885 according to the plan of the architect Heinrich Hannig from Saverne. The train station of Rexingen was built in the late 19th or early 20th century against. He has been decommissioned and is now used as a house. The Protestant church was built in 1885. It is geared toward east-west. Your nave is lit by four tall windows. In the church is an organ of Dalstein & Haerpfer, which was constructed in 1914. It was modernized in 1960 by the organ builder Schwenkedel.
