Wingen-sur-Moder
Wingen -sur -Moder ( Wingen German ) is a commune with 1536 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It is located in the arrondissement of Saverne and there in the canton of La Petite- Pierre.
Geography
Wingen is, as the name says, on the river Moder and is part of the Natural Park of the North Vosges. Neighboring municipalities are in the north Meisenthal and Goetz Bruck (both in the Département Moselle), in the southeast Wimmenau, in the south Erckartswiller, southwest jitter home and in the northwest Rosteig and Soucht ( Moselle ).
Population
The place used to have a relatively strong Jenische population. This is - to a far lesser extent - still exists.
Attractions
Wingen is known by the glass manufacturer Cristallerie Lalique. The former building of the factory, were transformed by the architect Jean -Michel Wilmotte, who had previously been honored by the restoration of the Bernardins in Paris, which opened in July 2011 Musée Lalique.
