Bébing

Bébing ( German Bebing, 1940-44 Bebingen ) is a commune with 163 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Sarrebourg and Canton Sarrebourg.

Geography

Bébing is about five kilometers west of Sarrebourg at an altitude 258-324 m above sea level. The municipality covers 9.57 km ².

The municipality consists of the two northern hamlet

  • Rinting ( Rintingen ) and
  • Misselhoff ( Misselhof ).

History

The village was first mentioned in 1121 as Bubing. The village was German until 1661, then came to France, in 1871 and again in 1919 German French again. In the period 1939-1945 it was under the German administration again and then again the French.
