Diemerswil is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Diemerswil located at 600 meters above sea level. M., 8 km north of the capital of the canton of Bern ( straight line ). The small village extends on a gently sloping hillside on the eastern slopes of the Frienisbergplateaus, south of Moss Lake Valley, on the Swiss Plateau.

The area of ​​2.8 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the central Bernese Mittelland. The municipality extends from the bottom edge of Münchenbuchsee westward over the slope of Diemerswil with the surface of Mettlenstrasse field up to the heights of the Frienisberg Cholholz and the Chüewald. Economy

Diemerswil was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the farming, fruit growing and dairying have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including an operation of computer science. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the agglomeration of Bern.

Traffic

The community is located off the major thoroughfares on a road from Münchenbuchsee after Meikirch. The nearest links to the motorway A6 ( Bern -Biel ) is located approximately 4 km from the town center. History

The discovery of a hill tomb from the Hallstatt period with car funeral in forest fire points to an early settlement of the municipality. The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1257 under the name Diemarswile. Later, the names Ditmarswile ( 1275 ), Dyemerswil ( 1299 ) and Diemerswile (1302 ) published. The name goes back to the Old High German personal name Dietmar and accordingly is the homestead of Dietmar.

Since the Middle Ages Diemerswil was under the basic rule of the Counts of Kyburg. In the 13th century the manorial got to the Knights of St. John in Münchenbuchsee. Since 1406 was responsible for the sovereignty over the territory in Bern. After the Commandery was secularized in 1528, Diemerswil the bailiwick Münchenbuchsee was allocated in the district court Zollikofen.

After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ), the village belonged to the district during the Helvetic Zollikofen and from 1803 to Oberamt Mrs. Fountain, received the status of an office district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831. Today there is a close cooperation with the neighboring Münchenbuchsee at the community level.

Attractions

In the hamlets of some characteristic farmhouses in the Bernese country style from the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved. Diemerswil does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Münchenbuchsee.
