Flag of Guinea

The flag of Guinea was officially launched on 10 November 1958.

Description and significance

The flag of Guinea is borrowed from the French tricolor, as the country until its independence in 1958, was a French colony. The colors of the flag are those of the Democratic Party of Guinea, which led the country to independence. They also comply with the pan-African colors of red, yellow and green. Mali uses the same tricolor as its flag, but with the green band on the hoist side.

Red stands for the welding, which was necessary for the development of the country and for the blood of the struggle for freedom. Yellow symbolizes the sun, faith in justice and the gold wealth Guinea. Green represents the lush vegetation and the encouragement of citizens to show solidarity in the development of the national economy. The colors thus forming a connection to the motto Travail, Justice, Solidarité (labor, justice, solidarity ).
