Ford Taunus P5

The Taunus P5 ( = Project 5, that is, the fifth new car design at Ford-Werke in Cologne since the end of World War II ) was a car of the upper middle class of Ford Germany, which was produced from August 1964 to December 1967. Commercial names were Taunus 17M and 20M Taunus. The "M" meant "masterpiece". The cars with V-engines and rear-wheel drive had independent suspension with MacPherson struts in front and a live axle with leaf springs in the back. The P5 was the manufacturer's name, unlike the Taunus P4 of Construction at - yet inconspicuous as a small " plum " on the right fender at the bottom next to the name " Taunus ".

For the new Taunus V- 4 engines were ( 17M: 1.5 l, 60 hp and 1.7 liter, 70 hp ) and V - 6 engines ( 20M: 2.0 L with 85 hp or 90 hp in 20M TS ) was developed. A new " Taunomatic " automatic transmission was available from 1966.
