The nuclear power plant in Fort St. Vrain (English Fort Saint Vrain Nuclear Generating Station ) was a nuclear power plant with a high temperature reactor. The nuclear power plant is located near Platteville in the U.S. state of Colorado.

History

The reactor at Fort St. Vrain is one of two high-temperature reactors in the United States. Construction began on September 1, 1968. The performance of the reactor was 342 megawatts. On December 11, 1976, the reactor started operation. Following closure in 1989, the building was torn down in 1992. The 174 million USD expensive demolition was completed in 1997 and on the grounds of a gas power plant was built.
