The nuclear power plant Catawba ( Catawba Nuclear Generating Station in English ) is a nuclear power plant with two pressurized water reactors. The nuclear power plant is located near York in York County in the U.S. state of South Carolina.

Block 1

The reactor in Unit 1 is a pressurized water reactor from Westinghouse. The owner is North Carolina Electric Member Corporation. Construction began on 7 August 1975. Commissioning of the reactor was on 22 January 1985.

Block 2

Also the reactor in Unit 2 is a pressurized water reactor from Westinghouse. The owner is North Carolina Electric Member Corporation. Construction began on 7 August 1975. Commissioning of the reactor was on 18 May 1986.

General

The nuclear power plant is the Catawba nuclear power plant with the third largest power in the United States. It has the most reactors in the United States. It is situated on a 391 acre peninsula.
