Fouchy

Fouchy (German mine in Weilertal ) is a commune with 668 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Sélestat - Erstein, for Canton Villé and community association Canton de Villé.

Geography

Fouchy lies in the valley of the casting in the Vosges Mountains, about 16 km notdwestlich Sélestat. In the south, the municipality of Haut-Rhin extends to the border to Territory. To Fouchy part of the district Noirceux.

Neighboring communities of Fouchy are Bassemberg in the northeast, width- to the east, Rombach- le-Franc in the south, the west and Urbeis Lalaye in the northwest.

History

The village received its present name after the Thirty Years' War.
