Stotzheim

Home Stotz ( Stotz German home in Alsace ) is a commune with 1056 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Sélestat - Erstein, for Canton Barr and founded in 1995, Local Government Association, Piedmont de Barr. The inhabitants are called Stotzheimois.

Geography

The community Stotz home is located in the Upper Rhine Plain, approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Strasbourg. Only in the south-west, the municipality has a small proportion of the area planted with vines foothills of the Vosges. The Andlau forms the northern, the Scheer the southeastern boundary of the municipality Stotz home.

The settlement area of the village stretches along the Mühlbach, a branch of artificial Andlau.

Neighboring communities of Stotzheim are Zellwiller in the north, Kertzfeld in the east, Hutten home and Sermersheim the southeast, Epfig in the south and Saint- Pierre in the West.

History

The name Stotzheim storze is derived from the vernacular expression, which means tree stump, so three logs are displayed on the coat of arms.

783 Stotzheim was first mentioned in a document of the monastery White Castle, as Stozzesvillare, 814 as Stotezheim in a charter of Louis the Pious. 1314 bought by the Bishop of Strasbourg the church.

1444 Stotz home was looted during the Hundred Years' War ( 1337-1453 ) of Armagnacs. In the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) it was plundered by the Swedes, who set fire to the church. A new church was not built until 1765.

Culture and sights

The church of Saint Nicolas was built in 1765 in place of an earlier church from the year 1626.

The green stone castle was built in the 13th century, however, replaced by the present castle in the 16th century. 1298 it is mentioned as Schollenhof in a document in 1339 as a stone floor and only from 1690 when Pierre Verte or " greenstone ". It was established in 1986 entered in the Register of Monuments historiques addition. The castle is privately owned.

Stotz home with three flowers representing national des villes et villages fleuris ( National Council of flowery towns and villages ) in the Conseil. The " flowers " are awarded as part of a regional competition, a maximum of three flowers can be achieved.

Community partnership

Since 1965, Stotz home is with the German community Ortenberg about 35 kilometers in a straight line located on the other side of the Rhine, in a partnership.
