Ebersmunster

Ebersmunster ( German Ebersmünster ) is a 471 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) scoring commune in the Bas -Rhin in the Alsace region. It lies about 40 km south of Strasbourg and 30 km north of Colmar. Towns nearby are Kogenheim in the north, Ebersheim in the southwest and Hilsenheim in the southeast. The community is a member of the Communauté de communes de Sélestat.

Abbey Ebersmunster

Noteworthy is the three towers former abbey church of St. Mauritius, the work of Vorarlberg architect Peter Thumb. The 1727 completed house of worship is one of the most beautiful baroque churches in eastern France. In the church there is a 1730-1732 by Andreas Silbermann built organ, which is one of the best preserved works by the famous organ builder. It has been carefully restored 1997-1999.

Each year is organized by may and july, the abbey church, a concert series, Les Heures Musicales d' Ebersmunster benefit the earnings from which restoration of the church.
