Foulcrey

Geography

Foulcrey is located halfway between Sarrebourg and Luneville on the border to the neighboring department of Meurthe -et -Moselle at an altitude 283-355 m above sea level. The municipality covers 12.34 km ².

Just north of the Etang de Foulcrey is ( Folk Ringer pond ).

History

The village was first mentioned in 1332 as Foukereis. Other spellings were: Folke Ranges ( 1361 ), Folke rings ( 1438 ), Folk rings ( 1490 ), People's rings ( 1615).

The village belongs since 1681 to France.

1915-18 and 1940-44, it was the Germanized name Folk wrestling.
