Hamelet

Hamelet ( Picard: Hanmelet ) is a northern French village with 518 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens, in the canton of Corbie and is part of the Communauté de communes du Val de Somme.

Geography

The in the valley on the left bank of the Somme south-east of Corbie on the D71 road department located municipality extends to the south in a narrow strip up to the Territory road D1029, the former Route nationale 29 The Valley of the Somme is here abundant interspersed with ponds. After Corbie is no direct connection.

History

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
