Pont-Noyelles

Pont- Noyelles ( Picard: Pont- Noéyelle ) is a northern French village with 762 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) by the Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the Canton of Villers -Bocage and is part of the Communauté de communes du Bocage et de l' Hallue.

Geography

The parish, which is bounded on the west by the river Hallue lies about seven kilometers northwest of Corbie at the intersection of the former (now around Pont- Noyelles guided around ) route of the department of road D929 ( Amiens direction of Albert), D115 after Daours and D30. The distance to Albert is around 16.5 km. On the opposite bank of the Hallue the community Querrieu is.

History

The abbey of Saint -Vaast in Arras settled in the 11th century farmers from the Beauvaisis in Pont, which managed the marshy area in the valley of Hallue together with the inhabitants of Querrieu. 1768 the buildings of the monastery square of Saint- Vaast in Pont were abandoned. 1789, the possession of Saint- Vaast was transferred into national property and then sold.

In December 1870, the Battle of the Hallue took place in the area to which the Colonne Faidherbe ( Faidherbe column) recalls.
