Luttenbach-près-Munster

Luttenbach- près -Munster ( German Luttenbach near Munster, alsatian Lütteba bi Minschter ) is a commune with 755 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. She is a member of the Association of Local Authorities Vallée de Munster.

Geography

Luttenbach- près -Munster is located in the Alsatian Munster ( Vallée de Munster) in the Vosges Mountains, just west of Muenster ( Munster) with which it is grown together structurally. West of Luttenbach borders Breitenbach-Haut -Rhin. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges.

The municipality owns a breakpoint on the railway line Colmar- Metzeral which is navigated by TER Alsace trains.

History

" Luttenbach " originally means that the stream which passes through the village, was loud. This refers to the river Fecht. The first time the city was mentioned in 1120 as the Town of Munster. It was not until 1801, after the French Revolution, he was self-employed. During the First World War, the city was badly affected by its proximity to the front and was almost completely destroyed; the population had been evacuated in 1915. After the war, the village was rebuilt.
