Mühledorf, Bern

Mill village is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Mill village is situated at 605 m above sea level. M., 11 km northwest of the city of Thun (air line). The farming village extends to the southern foothills of the Belpberg between the valleys of the Gürbe in the west and the Aare river in the east, to the west of Gerzensees.

The area of ​​2.3 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the broad Aaresenke between Bern and Thun. The eastern part of the municipality lies on the undulating plateau of southern Belpberg, which was formed by the glacial Aaregletscher. In the far east the area extends as far as the shores of Gerzensees. With more than 630 m above sea level. M. is achieved at the level against the church Gerzensee the highest elevation of the mill village. To the west of the municipality of soil extends in the intensively farmed Gürbetalebene and extends over the channelized Müsche until about the middle of here around 1.5 km wide level. Population

With 258 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) mill village is one of the small communities of the Canton of Bern. Of the residents 97.3 % are German, 1.1 % French-speaking and 1.1 % speak Romansh (as of 2000). The population of the village mill amounted in 1850 to 277 residents in 1900 to 220 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population increased by strong migration to 1960 by a further 40 % to 137 persons. Since then, a significant increase in population was recorded again.

The voting shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 38.1 %, 21.7 % BDP, glp 13.1 %, SP 12.4 %, FDP 7.8 %, 2.8 % GPS, CVP 1.9 %, 0.4 % EPP, EDU 0.2 %.

Economy

Mill village was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the farming and market gardening (particularly carbon plantations ) in Guerbetal and dairy farming and animal husbandry an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available. In recent decades, the village has developed thanks to its attractive location into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the larger towns in the area, in the agglomeration of Bern or Thun.

Traffic

The community is conveniently technically quite well developed, even though it is off the major thoroughfares on a road from Rümligen to Kirchdorf. The nearest links to the motorway A6 ( Bern- Thun) is located about 5 km from the center. Due to the post bus trips which operate on routes from Belp to Kirchdorf and Münsingen to Kirchdorf, mill village is connected to the public transport network.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1364 under the name Mulidorf. In the Middle Ages mill village belonged first to the lords of Kramburg, from 1373 to possession of the Hospitallers Coming in Münchenbuchsee. After the Reformation, the village came under the direct rule of Berne and was subordinate to the district court Seftigen. The lower courts initially was Gelterfingen, but was in the 18th century mill village transferred ( Venner court ). After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) mill village belonged to the district during the Helvetic Seftigen and from 1803 to Oberamt Seftigen, which was given the status of an office district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831.

Attractions

In Längmoos is a three-story mansion from 1795 with EASONS is in extensive gardens. From the 16th century, a memory is preserved. Also, this single storey cottage Fimelen (1923 ), in a historic architectural style stands in a large park. Mill village has no church of its own, it belongs to the parish church village.
