Nico Rosberg

Nico Rosberg Erik ( German rɔsbɛɐ̯k, Finland - Swedish ru ː sbærj; * June 27, 1985 in Wiesbaden ) is a German - Finnish racing driver.

In 2005 he won the first title of the GP2 Series and starts since 2006 in Formula 1, 2012, he was the seventh Germans a Grand Prix victory in a Formula 1 World Championship race. Since 2010 he is under contract with Mercedes.

He is the son of former Finnish Formula 1 World Champion Keke Rosberg, who started 1978-1986 in Formula 1 and 1982 won the title.

Career

Beginnings in motorsport

Nico Rosberg was sitting with six years for the first time in karting from the age of eleven he started in several karting championships and won some of them. He was vice-European champion in Formula A ( 2000) and competed in the World Championship Formula Super A ( 2001).

In 2002 he drove in his father's team in the German Formula BMW and became an instant masterpiece. During the season he had documentary accompanied and sponsored by the music channel VIVA. In the same year he was allowed as to date the age of 17 the youngest driver ever to test a Formula 1 car of the Williams team. Then moved Rosberg, 2003 in the Formula 3 Euro Series and finished with a race win eighth in the overall standings. 2004 Rosberg remained in the Formula 3 Euro Series and went for the first time as a German at the start. He had denied under the Finnish flag His previous race. This time he won three races for himself and he finished the season fourth overall. His team-mate Andreas Zuber he distanced significantly in both seasons.

2005 Rosberg moved in the GP2 Series for French team ART Grand Prix. He was team-mate Alexandre Prémat, who had a year earlier won the runner-up title of the Formula 3 Euro Series. The German decided five races for themselves and won the title. His main rival in the title fight was future Formula 1 driver Heikki Kovalainen.

Formula 1

Williams (2006-2009)

In October 2005 Rosberg signed his first Formula 1 contract and was presented with Williams team-mate of the Australian Mark Webber. On March 12, 2006 Rosberg made his Formula 1 debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix. From the 12th position starting, he had to make an early pit stop after a collision in the first round. However, he fought back with a strong comeback, even reaching number seven and thus his first two points in Formula 1 was remarkable was mainly that Rosberg had the fastest lap of the race and has since become the youngest driver to achieve this, depending succeeded. For comparison: Rosberg drove the fastest lap of the race at the age of 20 years, 8 months and 13 days, and thus beat the previous record of the Spaniard Fernando Alonso, who was the Grand Prix of Canada 2003 21 years, 10 months and 17 days old. At the Grand Prix of Malaysia, however, he suffered a setback when he failed lying in sixth place just before the end. Other defects cost him valuable points, while his teammate took the Chaos race in Montreal and at the Nürburgring for good rankings. In the second half of the season, the Williams proved to be more reliable, and Rosberg could regularly finish in the top eight. Wurz fell during the off significantly and was replaced before the last race of the season in Brazil by the Japanese Kazuki Nakajima. Rosberg finished the year with a total of 20 points from ninth in the drivers' standings.

By separating the former world champion Fernando Alonso and the McLaren team Rosberg was repeatedly expressed by the press for the free space in the Silver Arrow this week. After both Williams Rosberg the rumors were denied several times, the German eventually extended his contract with the British team for two years until 2009.

The first race began in 2008 for Rosberg at the Grand Prix of Australia with a third place. In this turbulent race only eight drivers finished the race. The following race earned him three eighth courses and numerous stage finishes out of the points. His best result, a second place, be Rosberg won the Grand Prix of Singapore. The Formula 1 2008 graduated from Rosberg with 17 points and 13th place in the Drivers' World Championship.

Thus, Williams eventually had to settle for seventh place in the Constructors' Championship, as the competing teams had two drivers who scored the points.

In October 2009 Rosberg announced to leave Williams for the 2010 season.

Mercedes (from 2010)

As of 2010, Rosberg went alongside Michael Schumacher for Mercedes Grand Prix at the start. They drove the first real Mercedes Silver Arrows Formula 1 since 1955. At the Grand Prix in Malaysia, China and Great Britain stood Rosberg in third place on the podium. At the Hungarian Grand Prix, he fell out of an incident in the pit lane. His team failed his pit stop, and he lost his right rear wheel in the pit lane. The wheel jumped through the pit lane and injured a Williams mechanic with which the German had worked in the previous year. He had to finish the race due to the incident and reached for the first time in the season not the goal. Rosberg, who was able to achieve after inconspicuous points race regularly occupied at the end of the season seventh in the drivers' standings. The team-internal duel with Schumacher, he decided with 142 to 72 points clear of its own.

2011 made Rosberg Schumacher again with the Mercedes- driving duo. After he spent the first two races without points, he led the race in China for several laps and came in fifth place finish. At the Turkish Grand Prix was followed by another fifth place. At the Hungarian Grand Prix, he started for the 100th time in a Formula 1 race. Team Intern he sat down again with 89 to 76 points against Schumacher through and became the third consecutive seventh in the drivers' standings.

2012 Rosberg denied his third season on the page Schumacher at Mercedes. At the first race in Australia, he missed by a touch on the last lap points and came in twelfth place finish. In qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix, Rosberg achieved his first pole position in Formula 1 as he reached 96th driver in pole position in the Formula 1 World Championship. A day later, he scored the first Formula 1 victory in his 111th race. Rosberg is the 103rd winner of a Formula 1 Grand Prix. At the Grand Prix of Monaco, he scored a podium placement with a second place. At the end of the season he finished ninth in the drivers' world championship.

2013 remained Rosberg at Mercedes. With Lewis Hamilton, he received a new teammates. At the season opener in Australia Rosberg retired with technical problems. A week later in Malaysia, he had chances of a podium placing in the final phase. However, he was given several times to understand by the team management that he should not attack Hamilton, who was in third place. He came in fourth place finish. In the fourth race in Bahrain Rosberg achieved the pole position. However, in the race he lost a few positions and finished ninth. A race later, the Grand Prix of Spain Rosberg started a second time from the pole position. In the race, he finished sixth. In the following race in Monaco Rosberg achieved the pole position. Compared to the previous two Grands Prix he succeeded but this time to keep the lead throughout and win the race. Two races later in the UK was followed by his second win of the season. He benefited from a puncture of his team- mate Hamilton and Vettel by a technical defect. At the Grand Prix of India Rosberg was second. A week later, in Abu Dhabi, he came in third place finish. Rosberg finished the season in sixth place in the championship. With 171 to 189 points he lost internally Hamilton.

2014 form Rosberg and Hamilton again, driving a Mercedes. At the season opener in Australia, Rosberg managed a dominant start to finish. At the following race in Malaysia, he finished second behind Hamilton. This result was repeated a week later in Bahrain, where Rosberg Hamilton sat several times under pressure. He led the World Championship after the third race.

Personal

Nico Rosberg grew up as the son of Finnish Formula 1 World Champion Keke Rosberg and Deutsche Gesine Rosberg ( born Gleitsmann - gel ) in Germany, Ibiza and in Monaco. He is fluent in German, English, French and Italian. The native languages of his Finnish father and his Swedish ancestors he has not mastered it. Rosberg has dual Finnish and German citizenship. By 2003, Rosberg went to a Finnish racing license, since 2004, he officially started as a German.

Since 2003, he is in a relationship with Vivian Sibold.
