Octave Lapize

Octave Lapize ( born October 24, 1887 in Montrouge, † July 14, 1917 in Toul ) was a French cyclist. His biggest success was the overall win in the Tour de France 1910.

  • Victory in Paris -Brussels (1911, 1912, 1913)

  • Stage victories in the Tour de France: 1910 (four times ), 1912 and 1914 (once each )

1909 and 1911 to 1914 he took part in while the Tour de France, but had to abandon the race every time.

At the beginning of World War Octave Lapize was drafted for military service. On 14 July 1917 he died in a hospital in Toul, after he was seriously injured in the crash of his aircraft.
