Oran Faville

Oran Faville ( born October 13, 1817 in Manheim, New York, † November 2, 1872 in Waverly, Iowa ) was an American politician. Between 1858 and 1860 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Iowa.

Career

Oran Faville graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. He then worked as a teacher in the states of New York and Vermont. Later he became a professor at McKendree University in Illinois and then from 1853 to 1855 Head of the Ohio Wesleyan Female College. He then moved to the Mitchell County, Iowa, where he struck as a member of the Republican Party a political career.

1858 Faville was elected to the side of Ralph P. Lowe for the first Lieutenant Governor of Iowa. This post he held 1858-1860. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Between 1864 and 1867 he served as Iowa Superintendent of Public Instruction Education Minister of that State. He died on November 2, 1872 in Waverly.
