PÃ¥l Tyldum

Pål Bjarne Tyldum ( born March 28, 1942 in Høylandet, Nord-Trøndelag ) is a retired Norwegian cross-country skier.

Tyldum was regarded as a specialist for the long haul. His first gold medal at the Olympic Games, he won in 1968 with the 4 × 10 km relay. At the Winter Games in 1972, he became Olympic champion over 50km and won over the 30-km distance and with each season the silver medal. 1976 in Innsbruck he won Olympic silver in the relay again.

In separate world championships Tyldum never reached the podium. His best result was in 1970 the 4th place in the 30 - km run. In the same year he was awarded the Holmenkollen medal. Because of his success at the Olympic Games, he won the 1972 Fearnleys olympiske ærespris.
