Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chambéry

The Archdiocese of Chambéry (Latin: Archidioecis Camberiensis ) is a Roman Catholic Archdiocese in France, based in Chambéry.

History

The founded on August 18, 1779 bishopric was separated from the diocese of Grenoble and was a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lyon. After the French Revolution on July 10, 1817 became even the archbishopric and metropolitans, were the Diocese of Annecy and 1825 the diocese of Tarentaise and the diocese of Saint -Jean -de- Maurienne separated from him in 1822. After being reunited already on 6 April 1966 the dioceses of Saint -Jean -de- Maurienne and Tarentaise, it lost on 16 December 2002 its status as metropolitan of the ecclesiastical province and Lyon was incorporated, however, it retained its status as an archbishopric.
