Seal of Indiana

The current seal of the U.S. state of Indiana was established in 1963.

Description

The seal shows a forester, who falls a plane tree, while running in the foreground, an American bison and in the background the sun goes down.

In the border design are the leaves of the state tree, the tulip tree.

To the seal runs the English inscription:

Below is the year 1816.

History

The seal has undergone several changes since the region was part of the Northwest Territory.

The current design was established in 1963 by the General Assembly of Indiana.
