Seal of Oregon

The Seal of Oregon was given in 1857 in order and entered 1859, when Oregon State was in force. Since then, it has not changed.

Description

The seal shows a bald eagle, whose wings are spread. The eagle holds an olive branch in one hand and a quiver of arrows in the other claw. This symbolizes the desire for peace, but also the willingness to fight. The eagle stands over a shield, which is full of symbols.

On the shield there is the Pacific over which the sun rises and on the wegsegelt a British warship. An American merchant vessel is sailing towards the coast. This symbolizes the end of the British influences and the independence and strength of the American economy.

Trees, a moose and mountains represent the rich nature in Oregon, while the role of settlers is represented by a drawn by oxen covered wagon. The wagon is as far west as possible to the coast.

A bundle of wheat and a plow show the agricultural potential of the state during a pickaxe for the mineral resources are available.

On a banner is the word the union, which is also represented by the 33 stars ( at that time the number of states ). The outer ring is the inscription "State of Oregon " and the year 1859.
