Seal of North Carolina

The current seal of the U.S. state of North Carolina was adopted in 1871 as the official Seal of the State.

Description

The seal shows two female characters: the personification of Liberty (English: Liberty ) and the embodiment of prosperity (English: Plenty ).

Liberty holds in her hand a rod on which a Phrygian cap plugged in, and in the other hand a scroll with the word Constitution (English: Constitution)

The seated personification of wealth holding in one hand three ears in the direction of freedom and in the other hand a discarded on the floor cornucopia.

In the background mountains and a three-master at sea can be seen.

In the seal are two data, both can be found on the flag of North Carolina. It is to the date of the so-called Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence in Mecklenburg County on "20 May 1775 " and the Halifax Resolves in Halifax County on " 12 April 1776 ", both of which were held in North Carolina and at the beginning of the American independence movement.
