Vinnytsia Oblast

The Vinnytsia Oblast (Ukrainian Вінницька область / Winnyzka oblast, Russian Винницкая область / Winnizkaja oblast ) is an administrative unit of the Ukraine in the west of the country. It has around 1.62 million inhabitants (2014).

In the southwest of the oblast borders on Moldova with a boundary length of 202 km; over large parts, the river Dniester border demarcation dar. the west, the Vinnytsia Oblast borders the Chernivtsi oblasts and Khmelnytsky, Zhytomyr Oblast to the north, on the east by the oblasts Kyiv, Cherkasy and Kirovohrad and to the southeast by the Odessa Oblast.

The most important river is the Southern Bug, which flows through the Oblast in west-east direction. The working population comprises 65.4 % of the total population.

Capital of the Vinnytsia oblast is the city located on the Southern Bug Vinnytsia.

Administrative subdivision

The Vinnytsia Oblast is administratively divided into 27 Rajone and 6 directly below the Oblastverwaltung cities. These are the cities Schmerynka, Kosjatyn, Ladyschyn, Mohyliw - Podilskyj, Chmilnyk as well as the eponymous administrative center of the oblast, the city of Vinnytsia.
