2008–09 FIS Nordic Combined World Cup

The World Cup season 2008/ 09 Nordic Combined (official sponsors name: DKB FIS World Cup) began on November 29, 2008 in Kuusamo and ended on March 15, 2009 in Vikersund. It should be scheduled to take place 26 World Cup competitions, the two competitions in Liberec had to be canceled due to lack of snow but. A replacement competition was organized in Seefeld instead of the planned team competition. The highlight of the season was the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in the four competitions were held.

Changes

For the 2008/ 09 season, some changes were decided: Instead of the various disciplines, which often led to confusion, there should be only one competition format. This includes a jumping round and then a run over 10 kilometers. At the World Championships in Liberec, however, there is also a competition in the mass start of the program. According to the statutes, therefore, at least one competition in this format must be played in the World Cup. This is in Val di Fiemme, with one run over 10 kilometers and then jump two rounds instead.

The strategic responsibility for the Nordic Combined has the race director in the field of ski jumping, Walter Hofer transferred, the International Ski Federation. Ulrich Wehling will continue to race director in the Nordic combined, but will only be responsible for the operational implementation. Furthermore, the promotion and relegation between the A- and B- World Cup will be abolished.
