2012 BRD Năstase Țiriac Trophy

The BRD Nastase Ţiriac Trophy 2012 was a tennis tournament which took place in Bucharest from 23 to 29 April 2012. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2012 and was discharged on clay court. In the same week the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell played in Barcelona. However, the latter included in contrast to the BRD Nastase Ţiriac Trophy that belonged only to Category ATP World Tour 250 ATP World Tour 500 to Category

In 2011, the tournament was held in September, while the title had Florian Mayer in individual and Daniele Bracciali Potito Starace and won the double. Mayer went on to defend his title, but had already lost his opening match. In this year's finale hit the top seed Gilles Simon on Fabio Fognini, who had for the first time in his career reached an ATP final. Simon sat through in straight sets and won for the third time after 2007 and 2008 the title at this tournament. In the current year this was his first title, overall it was at twelve ATP - finals of the tenth title of his career. Biggest surprise of the tournament was the 22- year old Hungarian Attila Balázs, who immediately reached as a qualifier in his ATP debut in the semi-finals.

Also, the double winner of the previous year, Bracciali and Starace, dropped out already in the first round. In this year's top-seeded Robert Lindstedt the doubles final Horia Tecau and Jérémy Chardy met and Łukasz Kubot and won in straight sets her first title of the year. Overall, it was their seventh joint ATP title for Lindstedt it was the 13th title of his career, for the tenth Tecau.

The field of the individual competition consisted of 28 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. The four top-seeded player in singles each got a bye into the second round.
