Aubigny (Somme)

Aubigny ( Picard: Aubignin ) is a northern French village with 473 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens, in the canton of Corbie and is part of the Communauté de communes du Val de Somme.

Geography

The in the valley on the left bank of the Somme opposite the mouth of the Ancre immediately southwest of Corbie to the department streets D1 from Amiens to Peronne and D167 located commuter town is intersected by the railway line Paris -Lille, whose breakpoint Daours on the border with Daours in the field of municipality is located. History

Aubigny is called 662 in the founding document of the Abbey of Corbie. 1527 a new church was built on a raised by the abbey of Corbie available property. In 1636 the town was burned down at the siege of Corbie. The church was rebuilt in 1821. At the same time, the channeling of the Somme was carried out in the community. 1846, the railway line was built, the breakpoint Daours until 1872.

In 1918, the church was heavily bombed. In May 1940, heavy fighting took place; captured wounded members of the skirmishers sénégalais were massacred by members of the Wehrmacht.

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
