Castellalto

Castell Alto is a municipality with 7332 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) and is located near Canzano and notary Francesco in the Italian province of Teramo. The town is a member of the Comunità Montana del Vomano, Fino e Piomba.

Geography

Among the districts ( fractions) include Campo Grande, Case Molino, Castelbasso, Castelnuovo Vomano Feudo, Guzzano, Mulano, Petriccione, Pianvilla, Santa Lucia and Villa Torre.

Borders the following municipalities: Bell Ante, Canzano, Cellino Attanasio, Cermignano, Mosciano Sant'Angelo, notary Francesco and Teramo.

The municipality is situated approximately 15 km from the capital of the province, the city of Teramo and 18 km from the Adriatic coast.

History

The territory was inhabited during the Bronze Age of the Sabines. It was found during excavations bronze figures and ornaments from pre-Roman times.
